Marie also talked about her work in social change and her involvement with charities including Kiva, an organization that provides micro loans to help women with micro businesses in developing areas.

I asked Marie if she, ” could give one piece of advice to women entrepreneurs in our network, what would it be?”

She answered by breaking the rules and giving us two.

1. You can’t go into a business with the main goal being to make money. You need to find and do what you LOVE. When you find your passion, when you love what you are doing, when it engulfs your life, you cant help but be successful.

2. A lot of women think of marketing and sales in particular as evil. If you believe that your product or service is a benefit to your clients, you have a responsabily to help them get it. Marie believes that you are actually doing them a disservice if you don’t. If you do not fully believe in your product you need to get back the the drawing board and fix it so that it is the solution to their needs. Marie gave the example, “if you found the cure for cancer, you wouldn’t keep it to yourself.”  That is the level of belief you need to have in what you are selling or providing.
