Of course you can do this yourself, but it is much easier and more effective to have someone walk you through the process. There are many questions along the way that we can help with and many traps we can help you avoid.

Steps to get Started building your website/blog from Scratch.
Self Hosted blogs are the way to go. We feel that in the long run, the benefits of having your blog hosted on your own domain far outweigh the the less than $100.00 per year to host your own site. When you think about the amount of work you will put in to build the site and generate traffic to it, you will not want to have to start from scratch in a few months or a year.
Yes, you can start with a blog that is hosted at WordPress.com ( Not to be confused with WordPress.org which supports self hosted sites) for free. It is a great option for someone with an extremely limited budget. But if you are building something great for the future, hosting your blog on your own domain is the way to go. The other blog hosting sites include Typepad, and Blogger from Google. There are also micro blogging services like Tumblr and Amplify if you are looking to get into blogging without setting up your own website.
Steps for a self hosted website and/or blog.
1. Register a domain name and secure a hosting.

They are becoming more popular and are needed if you will process credit cards on your site. If you intend to use services like Paypal for payment, you may not need an SSL. It is our feeling that more social media sites like Facebook, may require them if you are going to link content to them.
2. Install WordPress on your domain once it is set up.
3. Once that is done, You can log into your WordPress blog and Install Headway, the premium WordPress theme that will allow you to completely customize your blog.(Affiliate)
